Norwegian Joy is NCL's First Ship to Home Port in Los Angeles

Cruise Planners Getaway Gang was fortunate enough to experience an overnight voyage on the newly revitalized Norwegian Joy this week in Los Angeles as part of her U.S. inaugural tour. Built in 2017, the Joy is a "Breakaway Plus" class ship. Her sister, the NCL Bliss, has already been a huge success. Originally designed for the Asia market, the Joy has just undergone a $50 million-plus revitalization and will be moving to the U.S. market this spring. She will be Norwegian's first ship to home port in Los Angeles, upping their presence on the west coast and offering cruisers more options for fantastic vacations out of Southern California. Her itineraries will include Alaska, the Mexican Riviera, and the Panama Canal.

Some of the features that set the NCL Joy apart include:

• The Observation Lounge is a huge 2 story, glass-enclosed area on the front of the ship that offers cruisers breathtaking views. • Exclusive to the Joy are the new Concierge Class rooms. Offering cruisers a more exclusive experience between standard cabins and The Haven, these rooms include round-the-clock concierge service, priority embarkation/disembarkation, private dining, and many cabin options that are large enough to accommodate families. The Concierge Inside Family Cabin boasts 500 square feet with 2 baths, 2 bedrooms, and a "virtual" balcony.
